Kirby Amponsah Manager, Ph.D

Kirby Amponsah-Manager, PhD President & Director of Administration

Kirby has a Masters degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ghana and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Florida. He’s currently a scientist with GlaxoSmithKline and lives in PA with his family.

He spent his early years in a rural area in the Techiman District of Ghana, and connects  to the community through GBAF engagement with schools in the area.

Joseph Gyamfi, MBA, PE

Joseph Gyamfi (Joe) is a Business Analyst and currently works at AAA Club Alliance, Wilmington, DE. He grew up Ghana and came to the USA to further his studies. He started his career as an Environmental Engineer with State of North Carolina and then went on to work as Financial Data Analyst with a healthcare consulting firm in Durham, NC after graduating from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
It was during his business school education that his long-held passion and vision for giving back to the town where he grew up, Piase and its surrounding communities materialized when he teamed up with his friend Kirby and few other friends in the MBA program to establish Give Back Africa Foundation (GBAF) in 2012. Jed Record, Vice Pres; Director of Strategy

Jed Record, MBA

Jed is a strategy and marketing consultant located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He helps Fortune 500 firms improve their marketing operations and develops innovative strategic plans for growth. Jed has a passion for helping under-privileged communities, especially in Africa.
Jed has an MBA from the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

Dr. Susan Barnes, Director for Public Engagement and Partnership

Dr. Susan Barnes

Susan is a senior scientist with GlaxoSmithKline in RTP, NC. Susan was born in the North East of England and moved to the USA 8 years ago.  She has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Bradford. Susan enjoys travel and photography and has journeyed extensively to developing countries and has had an eye-witness account of most of the problems GBAF wants to tackle. She has a passion for helping under-privileged communities and is interested in using her interpersonal skills and knowledge of project management to help achieve the mission of Give Back Africa Foundation

Chris Richter, MBA

Chris is a marketing and communications consultant at Railinc, Cary, N.C.-based IT Company that serves the freight rail industry. He has worked in communications positions in higher education and as an editor at newspapers and magazines. He’s a graduate of the University of South Carolina and UNC-Chapel Hill, received his MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Chris has had a longtime interest in international affairs. He traveled to the Cordoba region of Argentina in 2008 as part of Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange program.
